They can be tuned to work even better with a bit of work, and if someone who knows what they are doing tunes them then they have even more potential. The Generation 2 (latest ones from about June 06 forward) use a good shim valve and work pretty well out of the box. This made the forks very stiff, and un-responsive. The Generation 1 Fast Ace forks did not work very well, they used a very outdated and restrictive port valve design.
